Destination: Southwest Utah
Red Rock Landscapes, Outdoor Adventure, and Unexpected Discoveries
While Zion and Bryce Canyon may be Southwest Utah’s most recognizable attractions, the region offers far more than its national parks. From luxury resorts and boutique inns to vibrant dining, wellness experiences, scenic byways, and some of the most spectacular landscapes in the American West, Southwest Utah rewards travelers who are willing to venture beyond the expected and discover the stories hidden between the canyons.
Southwest Utah is more accessible than many travelers realize, making it an ideal destination for everything from long weekends to extended road trips.
St. George Regional Airport (SGU) offers convenient service through American, Delta, and United with nonstop connections to major western hubs including Salt Lake City, Phoenix, Denver, Dallas-Fort Worth, and Los Angeles, making travel from most U.S. cities surprisingly straightforward.
Many visitors also choose to fly into Las Vegas (LAS) and rent a car. Located approximately two hours from St. George via Interstate 15, Las Vegas provides access to a wider range of nonstop flights while offering a scenic introduction to the dramatic desert landscapes of the Southwest. (Pro Tip: Stop at Valley of Fire along the way.)
Once here, a vehicle is highly recommended. Some of the region’s most memorable experiences — from Zion and Bryce Canyon to Snow Canyon, Grand Staircase in Escalante, and the charming communities scattered throughout Utah’s canyon country — are best explored at your own pace.
Distances

Wander Well Tip
The best Southwest Utah itineraries balance iconic experiences with time for discovery. Visit the national parks, but leave room to explore a quiet state park, linger over dinner, take a scenic backroad, or spend an afternoon wandering through one of the region’s small towns. Some of the most memorable experiences happen beyond the places that make the postcards.
